I made an activity board! Actually, to backtrack a little bit, I finally, finally have the craft room that I never asked for. Well, that’s not entirely true. I only said that it would be nice to have. I didn’t exactly ask for it. But now I have a craft room! Huzzah!
I guess all these recent posts are mostly about food. I suppose it’s because I spend a lot of time cooking. Also some friends of ours recently went paleo, and while I had known about the paleo diet, I had never known anyone who actually was on it. Talking to them made me consider the way that the Guy and I are eating. But maybe its because we both grew up eating Chinese food at home that was prepared fresh and so that’s how we’re used to eating. But, with the whole thinking about how to feed A and the two of us, I somehow ended up subscribing to Food & Wine magazine. It was free for I forget how long, so I thought I would try it out. So… in case it hasn’t been clear, I don’t particularly like cooking. But I have to do it a lot. Which is okay, because we all have to do things that we don’t like regularly. I realized that as long as I’m okay with not liking cooking, and not have any expectation that I will enjoy cooking, then the fact that I don’t like cooking won’t bother me as much. Because… I always thought that one day I would enjoy cooking. And then when I realized I didn’t, I thought there was something wrong with me. And that was disappointing. But now I’ve come to terms with it, and cooking and I are acquaintances, but definitely not friends.
I don’t know how many times I’ve tried to restart keeping this blog up. But I might as well try again. A has been taking longer naps at a time, and I often find myself wondering what to do with myself with this new found freedom. (Shhhh… don’t tell Guybrush.) Plus the school year’s over and the students won’t be coming around for three hours at a time anymore.
Over the past two months with A, I think I’ve learned a few lessons here and there about mothering. At least, being a mother to an infant. I have two main lists: “Things people told me about being a mother but I didn’t really understand until it happened” and “Things people don’t talk about but I ended up learning anyways.”
So I have a baby! She is a dinosaur alien in disguise as a human. More on that later. That might be a lengthy post which I may or may not be able to get to. Speaking of things to get to, I should get to the laundry before I launch on another post. Laundry may possibly be more important than informing you about my little cuddly alien (A for short). A is almost two whole months old. I can’t believe how fast it’s gone.
If you know me, you know that I don’t bake. It’s not that I don’t like baking. Actually, scratch that. I’m not sure I like baking. But you know what? I’m not sure I like being in the kitchen a whole lot anyways. And for someone who doesn’t like being in the kitchen, I sure spend a whole lot of time there.
